Start of the genre
When the first shooting games came out in the retro era, it was splitted into two sections, shooting games like doom and shooting simulations like duck hunt on snes ,the shooting simulators was a revolution in the shooting games ,but the main focus was on the shooting games like contra and doom, which was very popular during the time but the lack of the graphic clarity and limited gameplay options was limiting the gaming experience .
Development of the genre
When the 90's kicked in there was a very important leveling up in the shooting games mechanics with games like virtua cop and house of dead the shooting experience had developed a lot but the restrictions of the movement was one major problem with these type of shooting games.
The modern day applications of the genre
In the period between the 90's until now there have been some huge leaps in the graphic aspects ,started with turning from the 2d game system into the 3d one which was a big development in the moving mechanics in these type of games and many other things ,like the variety of weapons and jumping and dodging mechanics that what started great first person shooter serieses like the call of duty,medal of honor, battlefield and much more games like them alongside with third person shooter games like max payne.
The future of the genre
When you look of how the shooting games had developed and the concept of battle royale gaining more popularity than the single player story modes it becomes clear that games like Fortnite, Pubg,Apex and Valorant is the future of the shooting games alongside the Call of duty series which was the only series that had succeeded in building great merchandise and develop great games through more that 20 years.

Positives of the genre
-People can learn about shooting and weapons without actually getting into war to find about them.
-Could be a good way to empty all the need to destroy that we all have in common .
-Could develope teaming up skills with friends in the multiplayers modes.
-Overcoming a strong opponent will require strategizing which will motivate the mind to build and test new strategies and build the ability of strategizing.
Negatives of the genre
-Could build a violence need if not carefully dealt with.
-Could consume a lot of time if there is not a good time management system applied.
-Could encourage some hyperactive actions if the user is not wise about understanding the nature of the genre.
Types of the genre
First person shooter like Call of duty series and Medal of honor and Battlefield.
Third person shooter like Max payne and total overdose.
